2008 Comprehensive Plan UpdateOverviewBloomington is in the process of updating the Comprehensive Plan, which last underwent a full update in 2000. The Comprehensive Plan is a statement of Bloomington's goals and objectives with regard to land use, housing, transportation, parks, environmental resources, and other related elements. It outlines where Bloomington stands today as a city and where it desires to be in the future along with recommendations on how to reach desired objectives. The Comprehensive Plan and its periodic update is required by Minnesota state law. It must be approved by the Metropolitan Council and must be consistent with adopted regional plans. More information about the Comprehensive Plan required elements and procedures can be found on the Metropolitan Council's website. On December 1, 2008, the City Council authorized transmittal of the 2008 Comprehensive Plan Update to the Metropolitan Council for their review. That review is expected to be complete around March of 2009, after which time the 2008 update can be formally adopted, replacing the 2000 Comprehensive Plan. 2008 Comprehensive PlanFull document (large file) (14.2MB,147-page PDF) Individual sections:
