Thanks for the great season!
It's hard to believe this Saturday will be our last outdoor market for the 2011 season. Such a great summer and fall it has been, we have enjoyed tons of fresh produce, running into old friends and making new friends we look forward to seeing on Saturday mornings. Thank you to all of our dedicated customers who show up rain or shine to support our local growers and vendors who work tirelessly every week and make the market what it is! Thank you also to all of the city staff who help behind the scenes and on the front line, especially Jill Murphy and Jim Urie who help plan the market and edit the newsletter, Jan Norbeck and Cassandra Heiberg who also help with the newsletter, the Artstaff who are always willing to help on Saturday mornings and are instrumental in the set up and take down of the market. Jackie Doncavage for becoming our Credit Card & EBT machine guru and the Minnesota Farmers Market Association for helping us set up this program. There are so many people that help make the market a success and I truly appreciate everyone's help and support! We will have two indoor markets again this year (hopefully without any snowstorms) they will be held inside Civic Plaza on November 12th and December 10th from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Joining us this Saturday will be Steve West who will be performing a variety of our favorite market tunes from We will also be decorating mini pumpkins, so bring the kids and stop by the city tent to create your own little Halloween pumpkin! Our Master Tree care specialist will be available from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. so bring all of your questions on how to prepare your trees for the upcoming winter. Lastly, we will be implementing some changes to the market for next year. Due to safety reasons we will be eliminating all customer parking in the Farmers Market lot, this area will be Produce of the week - Apples![]() Everyone loves fresh apples this time of year and we are lucky to have so many different varieties available at the market! If stored properly (close to 32 degrees) apples can last for quite a few weeks. Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a Haralson and a Connel Red? Well wonder no more, thanks to Sweetland Orchards and Thompson Orchards learn about some of the different variety of apples available and how best to use them!

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
