Community

  • More bike racks have been added throughout the City.
  • The Richfield Bicycle Master Plan Task Force is creating a comprehensive master plan that will make it safer and easier for residents of all ages to bike within Richfield and to connect to neighboring communities. For more information or to get involved, look here. external link
  • Preschool and childcare centers are implementing changes to provide healthier foods and increase physical activity for children. More information here.
  • Assisted Richfield Recreation Services to establish a satellite farmers market.

  • Assisted the Richfield City Recreation Services Department to promote a tobacco free parks and recreation ordinance. The ordinance was passed by the City Council in fall 2010.

  • Establishing a district wellness committee at Richfield Public Schools and implementing policies and practices for healthy eating and physical activity.
  • Provided training and resources to make school meals healthier.
  • Conducted public forums and surveys to develop plans for safe walking and biking routes to Richfield schools.
  • Encouraging students and staff to walk and bike to school.
