Bloomington Fire Department Honor Guard![]() With the encouragement of Captain Mike Gallagher and Assistant Chief Terry Keeler, a group of 19 Bloomington Fire Department members started a formal honor guard in 2001. The ceremonial introduction of the Honor Guard took place at the Annual Bloomington Fire Department Relief Association meeting on March 26, 2001. This is the meeting where the deceased members of the Department are honored with the bell-ringing ceremony. The Honor Guard serves the community and the fire department as a visual reminder of the fire service and its traditions. Colors are presented on various holidays and at important ceremonies, such as funeral and memorials. The Bloomington Fire Department Honor Guard has performed at various events including the opening of Relay for Life, the ceremony at the State Fair Grounds for the first anniversary of 9/11, the presentation of colors at the opening of a Minnesota Twins baseball game and many funerals and memorials for fallen firefighters. Members include: Brent Carlson, Tom Cherep, Pete Fisher, Mike Gallagher, Butch Gillum, Jim Green, Tony Gutierrez, Bruce Hargesheimer, Kris Kauffman, Dan Leach, Dave Matlon, Barry McDonald, Joe Meuwissen, Curt Meyer, Chris Morrison, Steve Quade and Darick Rhodes.
