National Night Out

The neighborhood kids get together with McGruff, the crime-fighting dog, and a Bloomington Explorer at an annual NNO party.

The 29th annual National Night Out take place on Tuesday, August 7, 2012.

We cordially invite you and your neighborhood to be a part of the National Night Out program!

Last year's National Night Out crime, drug and violence prevention program was the most successful ever for the Bloomington Police Department. More than 300 police officers, firefighters and paramedics visited the 350+ neighborhood parties that registered in 2011.

The Bloomington Crime Prevention Association external link has assisted in raising funds for past NNO events.

National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Participate in Bloomington's NNO program!

Each year, Neighborhood Watch Captains throughout Bloomington organize block parties to celebrate National Night Out. National Night Out packets will be available to Block Captains at the Police Department for pickup or online in June.

Stay tuned for further info.
