You pay a lower rate if you have less garbage. Haulers offer volume-based fees - a different
rate for a smaller cart versus a larger one.
Pickup days (residential)
The City of Bloomington requires your garbage hauler to pick up your recyclables. If you have
questions or have been missed, please contact your garbage hauler.

Reminder: Please have your garbage and recycling containers out at the curb by 7 a.m.
In the winter be sure to have them far enough off the curb so the snow plows do not hit them.

Recycling containers
The City no longer provides recycling containers. Call your regular garbage hauler to receive a
new recycling container if yours is damaged. Most do not charge for replacements.

Cell phones and inkjet printers

Creekside Community Center, 9801 Penn Avenue South, accepts cell phones to make 911
accessible for older adults and individuals with medical conditions or
disabilities. For more information, call 952-563-4957 V/TTY.

Cornerstone Advocacy Service, a non-profit organization that provides services for
victims of domestic abuse, accepts ink jet cartridges and cell phones for recycling
at their office, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., in Bloomington at 1000 East 80th
Street or call 952-884-0376.

Reusable items
Yardwaste disposal
Leaves, grass and branches less than 4" in diameter and bundled can be picked up by your trash
hauler for a fee.
Leaves, grass, branches, stumps, logs and all other yardwaste can be taken to the Mulch Store (previously Resource
Recovery Technology) in Burnsville (one mile west of 35W off Cliff Road). During the ash tree quarantine, only evergreen tree trimmings are being accepted. Call
952-736-1915 for details, hours and fees.
Wood and waste from ash trees cannot be moved outside Hennepin County.
Ash tree waste may be hauled to Metro Wood Recycling, 2113 Bloomington Road (near Fort Snelling) . Call
651-224-5706 or 309-314-3050 for special conditions, fees and hours. Normal business hours are
7:30-4:30 Monday to Friday and 8:00-12:00 Saturday. This location does accept all tree waste.
Residents may still use the Burnsville site, however, they will only accept evergreen tree trimmings from Hennepin County residents during the ash tree quarantine. Call first if you have questions.
Free wood chips are available at the City Western Maintenance Area, 105th and Hampshire ,
anytime.
Holiday tree disposal
All licensed haulers collect trees for a limited time after the holidays. Please contact your
hauler for their specific requirements.
